Darren Erdley Stewart (built-in 30 December 1990)[half-dozen] is an English mixed martial creative person. A professional competitor since 2013, he competed in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors.

Background [edit]

Stewart was born in Poplar, East London, England. His father was from Jamaica and his mother was from St Vincent. Encouraged by his mum, Stewart started MMA training at 13 for self-defence due to the crime rate was loftier in London with the youth during that time.[3] His friend Regan Lawrence was at The MMA Clinic at that time and invited him to effort on MMA, even though his initial idea was "I'm not doing that crap, cage fighting. Stewart made his promotional debut on 17 September 2016, at UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. Nogueira ii confronting Francimar Barroso at SĆ£o Paulo, Brazil. Stewart was initially alleged the winner of the fight via TKO,[10] just the determination was overturned by Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), afterwards an appeal from Borroso,[xi] every bit a issue from an accidental head butt prior Stewart rained down a series of heavy punches. The friction match with Francimar Barroso was rescheduled on 18 March 2017, at UFC Fight Nighttime: Manuwa vs. Anderson.[fifteen] He lost the fight via unanimous conclusion.[16]

Middleweight [edit]

Subsequently losing to Barroso in March 2017, Stewart appear he would compete in the middleweight division.[17]

Stewart faced Karl Roberson on xi November 2017 at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Pettis.[18] [19] He lost the fight via submission in the first round.[20]

Stewart faced promotional newcomer Julian Marquez on xvi Dec 2017 at UFC on Fox 26.[21] He lost the back-and-forth bout via submission in the 2d round.[22] Fifty-fifty though he lost the fight, he was awarded a Fight of the Night bonus award.[23]

Stewart faced Eric Spicely on 27 May 2018 at UFC Fight Nighttime 130.[24] He won the fight via technical knock out in the second round.[25] The win earned him his outset Operation of the Night award.[26]

Stewart faced Charles Byrd on viii September 2018 at UFC 228.[27] He won the fight via technical knockout.[28]

Stewart faced promotional newcomer Edmen Shahbazyan on 30 Nov 2018 at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale.[29] He lost the fight via split up decision.[thirty]

Stewart faced Bevon Lewis on 8 June 2019 at UFC 238.[31] He won the fight by unanimous decision.[32]

Stewart faced Deron Winn on 18 October 2019 at UFC on ESPN half dozen.[33] At the weigh-in, Winn weighed in at 188.5 pounds, 2.5 pounds over the middleweight non-title fight limit of 186. The bout was held at catchweight and winn was fined 20% of his purse which went to their opponents Stewart.[34] He won the fight via split decision.[35]

Stewart was scheduled to confront Marvin Vettori on 21 March 2020 at UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Edwards.[36] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UFC bout was moved to Cage Warriors 113 main event in which he faced Bartosz Fabiński instead.[37] Stewart lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Stewart faced Maki Pitolo on 8 Baronial 2020 at UFC Fight Night 174.[38] He won the fight via a guillotine choke in circular one.[39] This win earned him the Performance of the Nighttime award.[40]

Stewart faced Kevin The netherlands on 19 September 2020 at UFC Fight Night 178.[41] He lost the fight via separate decision.[42]

Stewart faced Eryk Anders on thirteen March 2021 at UFC Fight Night 187.[43] Due to an illegal knee thrown by Anders in round one, the fight was declared a no contest.[44]

Stewart rematched Eryk Anders on June 12, 2021 at UFC 263.[45] He lost the fight via unanimous decision.[46]

Stewart faced Dustin Jacoby on August 28, 2021 at UFC on ESPN 30.[47] He lost the fight via TKO in round 1.[48]

On August 31, 2021, it was announced that Stewart was released by UFC.[49]

Mail UFC [edit]

Stewart faced Mick Stanton at Cage Warriors 141 on July 22, 2022. He lost the tour via unanimous decision.[50]

Personal life [edit]

Stewart's moniker "The Dentist" refers to his opponents, whereby "He (his opponent) is but some other patient who's gonna get drilled".[51]

Stewart is an avid dancer and was a pupil of contemporary trip the light fantastic toe, ballet and street dance for GCSE. He was also a salsa dancing champion.[1]

Stewart lives in Barking, London with his fiancƩe Katherine, an Ecuadorian, and his sons Marlon and Tyler.[i]
